Blueberry Moment 19244
I was outside and I saw how many leaves my neighbor had in her yard. So, I went and put warm clothes on. I raked her yard for about three hours. When we told her, she was so happy. When we gave her the Blueberry Card and told her about it, she was even more happy. She said she might even do the same thing.

Blueberry Moment 19237
My second Blueberry Moment is when I supported my school by making positive posters to hang around the school. This was done with other members of the Blueberries to wish our school good luck during NWEA testing. When some of the people saw these, they loved them. I feel like it gave them an extra boost of faith.

Blueberry Moment 19243
My last Blueberry Moment is when myself, Lyndi, Bell, Anna, Emerson and Lexi made over 700 sticky notes with supportive quotes. People loved them. We even had our picture taken for the board at our school. We also got a shout out on our school announcements.

Annalisa Detwiler
Blueberry Moment 19232
For my first moment, I gathered with a couple of my fellow Blueberry Ambassador friends and we made 700 sticky notes to put on everybody in the school’s lockers. We all gave our Blueberry Cards to our teacher to be passed along. The next morning, I was walking to my class and all the kids were surprised. It made me very happy.

Blueberry Moment 19233
For my second moment, I went to Carriage Town Ministries. They give free clothing to people in need. I gathered a lot of the clothes I do not use anymore and gave them to Carriage Town Ministries. It felt good to give things away I didn’t need, but others would really like.

Blueberry Moment 19234
For my last moment, I got dressed and my dad and I went across the street to an elderly lady’s house and shoveled her driveway, and part of the sidewalk. We put the Blueberry Card in her mailbox and the next day I saw her take it out of her mailbox. She seemed so happy that we shoveled her driveway, and I was glad that she wouldn’t have to hurt herself doing it.

Lyndi Lints
Blueberry Moment 19235
For my first Blueberry Moment, I took a gift basket to my grandpa’s senior citizen home. I gave the Blueberry Card to a worker. Many people don’t get visitors or treats to eat. I know how my grandpa likes his treats. The workers seemed happy that I gave the seniors treats.

Blueberry Moment 19207
For my second Blueberry Moment, I gathered up six friends to all write 700 positive sticky notes together. I stuck them to all the lockers in the school and we were all so excited to see the happy faces of the students. I gave the card to Mrs. Kuzinski my principal. She seemed happy that I wanted to spread kindness throughout our building.

Blueberry Moment 19236
For my third Blueberry Moment, I donated animal supplies to the Humane Society for the cats and dogs. When we were there, we were able to look at the dogs, cats, bunnies, and guinea pigs it made me so happy to give all that stuff away them because they are in need of food and toys.

Blueberry Moment 19242
One of my friends invited me to help them make notes for peoples lockers. So, we stayed inside for two recesses and made the notes. We all were pretty excited to see their reactions. Will they be surprised? Will they be happy? Will they be confused? So we had an idea, in the mornings we would walk down all the way to the second grade hallway to see their reactions! Their faces when I saw them were happy and excited! One person even went up to their teacher and kinda jumped up and down and said, “Look look!” It made me very happy to see their faces and how much they liked it.

Blueberry Moment 19240
So for my second Blueberry Moment, I made posters with a lot of the other Blueberries. The posters were for the NWEA testing we had. Each poster had a positive quote on it, such as: Throw positivity around like confetti. To be honest I was scared myself, but these posters made me think, its ok! It’s just a test, you’re gonna do great!

Blueberry Moment 19241
For my next Blueberry Moment, I babysat for a dog and a baby, which my mom took care of the baby, but I took care of the dog! The dog had surgery on both legs so she couldn’t walk that well. One reason why it was tough was because we had to stay until 2:00 a.m.! But when the owners of the house got back, they thanked us a billion times, which made me very happy to know I made their day easier.

Blueberry Moment 19221
For my first Blueberry Moment, I just wrote my dad a letter and put my Blueberry Card in it to make sure he knew what he was doing.

Blueberry Moment 19220
For my second Blueberry Moment, I also wrote my little brother, Ewan, a letter and he read it. He was so happy. I loved that he loved it and then he said that he was going to write my mom a letter. He then passed the Blueberry Card to my mom.

Blueberry Moment 19222
For my last Blueberry Moment, I wrote a letter to my mom. She read it and said thank you to me. She asked me what the card was for so I explained it to her. She was like, “I think I know who I am going to give this card to next.”

Madison Smith

Blueberry Moment 19225
For my first Blueberry Moment, I donated goldfish crackers to my teacher to use for my class for the kids that can’t afford snacks and only meals and for kids that forget a snack. It made me feel good to help others in my classroom.

Isabella Wood

Blueberry Moment 19229
For my first Blueberry Moment me, and five of my friends decided to write positive sayings on sticky notes to post around our school. It felt really cool to come into school the next day and see the notes hanging on the lockers.

Blueberry Moment 19231
For my second moment, I volunteered at the North End Soup Kitchen. First, I worked with my mom to help make over 300 sandwiches for sack lunches to be passed out to the hungry people of Flint. Then, I helped make snacks for the little kids. We filled hundreds of ziplocs with cookies and goldfish. After that, I went upstairs with my dad to help the director organize clean out a room and organize donations.

Blueberry Moment 19230
For my third Blueberry Moment, I collected donations to take to the Genesee County Humane Society. The Humane Society helps dogs, cats, and other animals find homes. I asked my family and friends to help me collect things on the Humane Society’s wish list. I was able to collect puppy food, dog food, cat food, old towels, laundry detergent, paper towels, and cleaning products.

Blueberry Moment 19227
For my first moment, I helped with a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Support Network of Michigan. My skating club (The Lapeer Skating Club) and I worked hard to sell baked goods and 65 purple roses at our holiday skating show. We raised $238 for the CF Support Network. We chose this fundraiser because I have CF and the CF Support Network has helped me in the past. They send out care packages to kids with CF in Michigan and they reward CF kids in Michigan with gift cards when they go to routine clinic visits and follow the doctor’s orders.

Blueberry Moment 19228
For my second moment, my family and I adopted a family for Christmas. My mom works at a Santa set during the holidays and Santa recommended a Davison family in need. Santa delivered the gifts on Christmas Eve. This family had 5 kids from 1 year old to 14 years old. It was a challenge to shop for kids we don’t know but it was a lot of fun. I could see by the pictures that they were very grateful and enjoyed the gifts. I am glad I could make Christmas better for this family.

Blueberry Moment 19226
For my third moment, my friends and I made bookmarks for the book cart at Mott Children’s Hospital. The book cart is part of the Giving Library and goes to each child’s room every evening to offer the patient a new book that they can pick from the book cart and keep. They also give kids a bookmark with every book. When my brother was in the hospital, I noticed they were running out. Since the book marks were made by other kids, I thought it would be kind to make them some more bookmarks so they could keep giving them to new patients.

Blueberry Moment 19215
I saw that a friend of mine was in need of help in the morning. He couldn’t do everything at once, so I asked him, “Hey, do you need help?” He answered, “Yes, please and thank you.” I helped him clean his desk, and fill in his agenda. Later that day it was time for our school’s Santa’s Workshop. I had bought him something. I found out that he also got me something and we were both happy.

Blueberry Moment 19214
One day, I saw my teacher was looking a little be down, so my friend, Allie and I made nice notes to make her happy. Throughout the day we added cute pictures on them saying, “You’re the best.” At the end of the day, we gave her the notes. She read them, smiled, and said, “Thank you for the notes, they made my whole day.” Allie and I felt really happy after my teacher’s reaction. It was a great day.

Blueberry Moment 19216
Throughout the past weeks, me and my friends have not been playing together. So, I decided to make her a nice note saying how grateful I was to have her as my best friend. I also said how much me and Memphis missed her and we put cute pictures on it. The messages also said, “We hope we can play together again someday.” I ran over to her house and rang the doorbell. I waited for about a little bit and then Taylor answered, and when she saw me, her face lit up with joy. She said hello and she read the note. She thanked me and we hugged. It was an awesome day.

Blueberry Moment 19217
My first Blueberry Moment was helping a new student in our classroom.  She was new to the school and I wanted her to feel welcome. I can’t imagine how scared she may have felt coming in the first week. So, I decided to make a large card and had the whole class sign it without her knowing. I also made her a welcome gift bag. Our class went to music and that is when I placed the items on her desk, so the surprise would be waiting for her when she returned. In that moment, I felt such joy because I knew it would put a smile on her face and make her day, and that it did. The idea was to make her feel that she had friends and not to be scared of something new. Her smile lit up the room like it was Christmas morning. That was the best feeling in the world.

Blueberry Moment 19217
My second Blueberry Moment was helping to keep Kroger workers warm.  It was a very very cold week. My mom and I went to Kroger and I noticed the cart people having to retrieve the carts in the bad, cold weather. That’s when I remembered we had hand warmers in the back of our car. My mom and I took a handful of hand warmer in to the store to give to the cart workers. They were so grateful for the warmers because that’s when the temperatures were well below zero. I felt so happy and relieved knowing they would be warm because the cold/windy temperatures are dangerous.

Blueberry Moment 19218
My third Blueberry Moment was giving the mail lady a gift bag.  She has an important job and I wanted her to know I was thinking about her when the weather was fierce. I made her a gift bag with candy, gum, chocolate, hand warmers and a card.  I thanked her for all she does especially during the cold months and holidays. She appreciated it so much and I felt joyful. That small gesture of kindness is worth her smile. It doesn’t have to be big to get big results.  It’s the little things that make people feel special. It feels so uplifting knowing I brought joy to a few people in our community.

Harper Mitchell
Blueberry Moment 19213
For my first Blueberry Moment, I brought my grandma with Alzheimer’s disease to my house to bake cookies for her friends at the assisted living home. I did this because my grandma used to do this for her friends and family when she still could and I knew it would make her happy to do it again with me. We made pumpkin chocolate chip and chocolate no bake cookies. Later we put the cookies on a Christmas plate and wrapped them with clear plastic wrap. Later when we got there, the lady that works there said how she was the perfect person to give my Blueberry Card to because she was always doing kind things. I told her what to do with it, and she said she planned to give it to a family member.

Blueberry Moment 11921
For my second Blueberry Moment, I went to the local Dollar General and got a lot of stuff like paper towel, toilet paper, snacks, water bottles, Kleenex, and lysol wipes. Later we drove to Voices for Children in Flint. This is a place for kids who have been abused and for children to feel safe talking instead of going to the police and most likely feeling uncomfortable. The lady told me to come again and volunteer, so we agreed for me to go back and put time aside to help out around there. I chose to do this because my mom always says I have a kind heart and I love helping people so it worked out perfectly.

Blueberry Moment 19212
For my last Blueberry Moment, I helped my friend Eva. Eva was in class and tripped. She ended up chipping her tooth. I didn’t know it was her at first, so I didn’t really pay too close of attention. When she looked up I saw she was crying, so I got up and helped her. The teacher told me to bring her and her stuff to the office. I did it because she is my friend and I wanted to help.

Allie Pike
Blueberry Moment 19209
For my first moment, I went to Stuff A Truck at Dort Federal Ice Arena to donate things. I took pillows, blankets, and towels to people who need it in the community. I had to count how many of each thing I was donating so the people knew. A lady from the radio station even asked me questions! I felt happy that I could help people in need.

Blueberry Moment 19210
For my second moment, I made a card for my teacher, Mrs. Carnell with my friend Madeline. We wrote a positive message on the note and it was colorful. I wrote “Be Happy” so it would make her smile. I taped my Blueberry Card onto the note. My friend and I both gave her a card.

Blueberry Moment 19120
Finally, I went to WalMart to get two big bags of dog food. I took the dog food to the Humane Society on Dort Highway. I wanted to give the dogs food because they don’t have homes and they need food. And after I got to play with a cat.

Lydia Alcodray
Blueberry Moment 19291
For my first moment, I made a blanket for my step uncle’s dad because he has cancer. When I went to the hospital to give him the blanket, he said, “Why look Lydia’s here!” and he smiled. I could tell it had been awhile since he smiled. I think he liked having the company, it made him feel happy. Then, I went over and sat with him and told him I made something for him. He said, “You did well, let me see!” I gave him the bag and he opened it up. He said, “Wow Lydia, its beautiful! I love it.” That made me smile really big. It was funny because he said it was very cozy and he snuggled up. After that, me and him got a picture together. after the picture I snuggled with him for a while. He was right, it was very cozy. After a while, we had to say goodbye. I hugged him and said “I hope you feel better.” He said,” I already do, thank you.” I said, “You’re welcome.” and then I was off. It was fun seeing John again. I really hope he survives cancer.

Blueberry Moment 19289
My second Blueberry Moment was when I took my neighbors trash can up to their house when it was windy. When I was coming home from school, I said, “Mom, our neighbor’s trash can is knocked over. I’m gonna pick it up for them. Then after that me and my brother ended up going around the whole neighborhood. People said thank you, but others were inside. I felt good about it. It’s fun doing good deeds.

Blueberry Moment 19290
For my last Blueberry Moment, I sent two valentine cards to sick children at the Mott Children’s Hospital. I hope it makes the kids happy and that they feel better. My Aunt Sunni is at the U of M Hospital right now and we went to see her. My mom told me this was the hospital I sent them to so it was cool to actually see it.

Riley Allen
Blueberry Moment 19298
For my first moment, my dad was stressed and needed help meal prepping so I went over to help. First, I got the food out and stuff. Next, I used the food slicer to slice up the food. Then, I put the food in containers. Next, I put the containers away. I cleaned up my mess. Then, I helped my baby brother, who needed help on his ABCs and so I went over and helped him. First, I taught him his name. Then, I taught him our family names .Then, I helped him with his entire alphabet.

Blueberry Moment 19299
For my second moment I made valentine boxes for people in my class. I made two boxes because I only had time to make two valentine boxes I didn’t  do much to it.I covered the boxes with construction paper and added stickers.

Blueberry Moment 19300
For my last moment, I was giving out positive comments at school to people to fill their hearts with joy. I also do it at the end of the day since I’m also safety patrol so I tell people positive comments.

Bailey Barnier
Blueberry Moment 19292
First, I went to my dad’s work, Brookdale in Grand Blanc. I helped take food out to the residents and one of the residents was smiling a lot because I did this. They said they never see little kids like me bring out their food like I had. Then, I helped collect the cups, plates, and bowls from the table and if the resident was still easting, I would leave it there for them to finish. Then, there was a little dish washer rack that you would put the cups in, and a separate one for the plates. The residents were really happy and I was happy to help. It brought a huge smile to my face, the other workers faces, and the residents faces. I said I am always happy to help people. It always fun and happy for me and others.

Blueberry Moment 19293
For my second moment, I went back to Brookdale, where my dad works. I helped in assisting the residents back to their rooms. I was able to push some of them in their wheelchairs. It was fun and they were so happy that I helped. Then when I pushed this girl resident, she was so happy that I helped her it made me so happy as well. I love helping people in need.

Blueberry Moment 19294
Finally, while still at Brookdale, the worker in charge of events wanted me to help her with the Bingo game as the residents were playing. I said yes and my job was to call off the Bingo numbers as they were drawn. It was really fun and a couple times they could not hear me so I would be asked to say the number again, but louder. I did it and it was fun. The residents reactions were happy reactions and that made me happy. The residents were excited to play and happy that I could help. I will always remember doing this.

Riley Burkhart
Blueberry Moment 19297
When I was at the library, I had a really nice thought that it would be nice to give them a book because they can let people borrow it and win it in the summer reading challenge. I think it was nice because they always let me borrow any book I want, so why not do something nice for them? It made me feel good to do something nice for them. When I gave the book to the librarian, she was so surprised. She had a happy look on her face. In the end we were both happy.

Blueberry Moment 19295
For my second deed, I got together 183 thank you cards for the troops and sent them into the radio station Nash 95.1. It made me feel good because if you can’t go home for the holiday because you have to protect the U.S.A. you should at least get a card right? And plus my great grandpa, aunt, and cousin served. I bet you it puts a smile on the soldiers’ face every time they look at the card. It made me feel so good that there’s not even a word to describe it. I love you U.S.A. troops!

Blueberry Moment 19296
For my last Blueberry Ambassador deed, I went to an assisted living home and helped some elderly and visited. I did a puzzle with Yogi and we had fun. He told me tricks I never heard before. When I did these things, and asked him to helped he got the biggest smile ever! We had so much fun! I also threw stuff away for one lady, and helped serve dessert. It was a fun day!

Eric Simmonds
Blueberry Moment 19252
For my first good deed, I gave some donuts to the office people from Tim Hortons, which felt really good. I felt really bad earlier that day, but when I delivered the donuts to the office I felt good doing something nice. When you do something nice, you feel nice.

Blueberry Moment 19205
For my second good deed, I put a five dollar bill and a nice note in a Redbox movie for someone to have a family movie night, It made me feel good. Why? Because when you do something nice it makes you feel nice back.

Blueberry Moment 19251
For my third good deed, I made blueberry muffins or the neighbors. I wrote a note and pit it with it that said, “Thank you for being good neighbors.” That made me feel really good.

Isabel Torres
Blueberry Moment 19206
At Christmas time, I worked for money to be able to buy stuff for a little girl who was in foster care. I went shopping and I used her list to get her clothes and toys. My mom, grandma, and I went to the collection center to drop the items off. It was a big room with lots of trash bags filled with stuff for the little boys and girls. I felt proud and the people there were happy and teary eyed.

Blueberry Moment 19239
Next, when we were getting food at Taco Bell, we decided to pay for the man’s food in the car behind us. It was fun because we knew it was a secret, and that he would feel happy that we did it! We didn’t see his reaction because we drove away, but I bet he was really surprised.

Blueberry Moment 19238
Finally, I was at Meijer with my grandma and we saw a handicapped person all alone trying to put groceries in their car. I asked my grandma if it was ok for me to go over there and help her and my grandma said yes it’s ok but be careful. When I got over there I saw the person was struggling a bit so I asked her if I could help her. She seemed a little surprised but also she was a little bit teary eyed, so then with a strong voice, she said ok thank you. I felt proud and it made me want to do it more.

Blueberry Moment 19287
For my first Blueberry Moment, my sister, my mom, and I went to the North End Soup Kitchen. The first thing we did was we bagged up meat for the people that wanted it. The second thing we did was we served them a donut on a tray, some chicken pasta, some salad, and an apple if they wanted one. When I handed them the food I felt good that I was helping people. So, before I left, I handed the owner the Blueberry Card and explained what to do with it. When we left, I felt good that I was doing something for the community.

Blueberry Moment 19288
For my second Blueberry Moment, I helped my friend write one hundred sticky notes for her Blueberry Moment. First, she gathered six friends to help. Then, we planned to meet during lunch. I only got 15 done at lunch so we needed more time to complete this. It took two days of work. I turned them into my friend and the next day they were hung on lockers all around the school. It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Blueberry Moment 19289
For my third Blueberry Moment, I shoveled almost everyone’s driveways in my neighborhood, with my dad’s help. My dad took my four wheeler and helped me shovel. I got the edges and things he couldn’t reach with my shovel. I gave my neighbor next door the Blueberry Card and explained to them what it was and what to do with it. My neighbor was very grateful for my help.

Adeleigh Simmonds
Blueberry Moment 19276
For my first moment, I had a snow day with my babysitter Brenna. I got up and Brenna was there. Normally, Brenna makes me and my sister Magnolia breakfast. But, I decided that because she is always doing things for Magnolia and me, I would do something for her. So, I made pancakes for all of us. At that point, Magnolia was sleeping, but I made her some anyways. I served the pancakes and syrup and as I was cleaning up, she was already done with her pancakes and she said, “Thank you! They were delicious, I love them.” I felt happy.

Blueberry Moment 19275
One day, I went over to an elderly ladies house. She lives across the street from me. So, I went and brought her some rice krispie treats that I made. I go over and you know how we gained an hour? Well she didn’t know how to change the time, so I helped her. And while I was doing that, she ate the rice krispie treats and she said they were delicious. I am so happy that she liked them! And that’s when it hit me, even though it was something small, I helped someone and could give her my Blueberry Card. I gave her one of the cards and I told her it was her turn to do something in the community. I felt touched when I gave her the card.

Blueberry Moment 19277
Finally, one day I had to leave school early because my mom had a photo shoot to do. But, we also had a plan to give the office staff cookies as one of my Blueberry Moments. The cookies were in the shape of a castle. It took my mom and I between one and two hours to make the royal frosting and decorate the cookies. I wanted to take the office cookies to thank them for all they do for our school. I gave them the card and the cookies. They loved them. I felt happy, amazing, and good.

Ashton Usealman
Blueberry Moment 19280
One weekend I spent the rest of my Saturday after my soccer game helping out at The Oaks of Woodfield in Grand Blanc. The Oaks is an assisted living facility that specializes in long term care and memory care. I helped Alex which is a worker there. I helped Mrs. Benore eat. I helped sit her up in her chair, I played music for her when she was in pain. I talked to her to let her know that someone was with her to make her feel comfortable. I helped Nancy by wheeling her in her wheelchair down for dinner. I took her to her favorite seat by the window. I took her meal tray to her and helped her get her coffee. I helped pass out drinks to others also. I helped the lady in pink get back to her room. She asked me where her room was, so she told me her room number and I took her back to her room. I really enjoyed helping out at The Oaks of Woodfield.

Blueberry Moment 19281
Next, I took some of my money that I have saved from Christmas and my birthday to help out the Genesee County Humane Society. I took them dog food, cat food, kitten food, puppy food, cleaning supplies, dryer sheets and paper towel. I took these items so they would be able to feed the animals and give them a clean home for their stay. I got to get a dog out and give her some love while I was there. It felt really good to be able to help supply some things they needed.

Blueberry Moment 19282
Also, my family was able to get ahold of the Davison Fire station chief, so I could take them a treat. I baked 60 cookies with a note  and took them to the fire station after a meeting they had. My note said, “Sometimes we forget to thank the people who make a difference. Sometimes we forget to tell them how much we appreciate them for playing such an important part in our lives. So, thank You’ all, for always being here for us.” They were very thankful. The firemen gave me a tour of the fire station, the fire trucks and they answered all of my questions. It felt good to take them cookies.

Finally, my first ever pay-it-forward was so fun. I put fun notes on bags of popcorn and taped them to a red-box movie rental. I did this because I love popcorn with my movies and everyone should have popcorn with the movie they are going to watch. So, just in case someone forgot the popcorn, I made sure they had a bag.

Blueberry Moment 19273
One night my mom, my little sister, and I went to speedway and got hot cocoa with marshmallows. We took them to my grandparents house. My Papa was at the door, he was excited to see me. I gave him two hot cocoas, one for him and one for my Nana. He told me Nana would love it. Nana told me later she loved it.

Blueberry Moment 19274
My mom took me to Tim Hortons we got gift cards and went to Walgreens. We saw an elderly lady in the parking lot putting away her groceries. We walked up to her and told her who I am and gave her a gift card. We put away her grocery cart and she was so happy because she was taking care of someone else and her husband was also sick. She was so happy she had tears in her eyes, she thanked me and  gave me a hug and told me this could not have happened at a more perfect time.

Blueberry Moment 19272
My dad and I baked cookies on a snow day. Later that day I went to my neighbor’s house. I gave my neighbor cookies and a Tim Hortons gift card. He was so happy.

Lucas Bastios
Blueberry Moment 19266
For my first Blueberry Moment, I gave the employees at Davison Library donuts. I felt great! The person I gave them to, I could tell, liked it so much that he asked me for my name. It felt like the BEST night ever!

Blueberry Moment 19267
My second Blueberry Moment, I gave my bus driver hot chocolate because it was cold outside. Being a bus driver is a hard job so I thought he needed something to warm him up. I felt great doing the act of kindness and I could tell he felt good too because he said thanks and smiled.

Blueberry Moment 19268
For my last Blueberry Moment, I sent someone a pre-paid dessert at Big Boy. I felt great that I did something kind, and I could tell he felt the same by the smile on his face.

Alivia Cliff
Blueberry Moment 19270
For my first Blueberry Moment, I was at my dad’s girlfriend’s parents house. Mrs. Amos was making Thanksgiving dinner all by herself. I decided to help her because I didn’t think that anybody should have to do that by themselves. I helped her make the gravy, butter the rolls, and open the microwave door. Everytime I did something, she smiled and said, “Thank you.” I felt very happy because I was helping someone who needed it.

Blueberry Moment 19271
For my second Blueberry Moment, I helped my dad with the doors. He spray-painted them in the garage. He brought the doors in from the garage, and I helped screw the hinges on them. I also put on the latches, and the lock on the garage door. Once everything was done, he walked up to my bedroom and said that he was very grateful and that it would have taken a lot longer to finish if I hadn’t helped him. It made me feel good, because it always makes me feel good when I help someone else, and in turn, I think that it should encourage other people to help someone else if and when they need it.

Blueberry Moment 19269
For my third Blueberry Moment, I went over to my neighbor’s house to shovel. I walked over and started to shovel their sidewalk. When I was on the second step, their daughter came outside and started helping. When I was done, I walked up the driveway to give them my card. It made me feel good because I like to help other people who need it. It probably made them feel good too because it would make me feel good when someone helps me.

Morgan Hoppe
Blueberry Moment 19260
For my first Blueberry Moment, I saw my older neighbor shoveling her driveway. I wanted to help her so I asked my mom if I could. She said yes. I grabbed a shovel and asked her if I could help her shovel her sidewalks and driveway. Since she was on the corner, her driveway was large and her sidewalk was long. She seemed very shocked. After a while, she looked happy and thankful. I was very proud and was happy to help her. I explained about the Blueberry program and handed her my Blueberry Card. She seemed very excited to pass the card on.

Blueberry Moment 19261
For my second Blueberry Moment, I saw the mailman walking down the road. I wrote a thank you card saying, “I am thankful for you being out there in the rain, snow, sleet, and hail. I always depend on you to bring my mail, but I never said thank you.” I taped a hot chocolate packet to the page along with my Blueberry Card. I signed it and wrote a P.S. about the Blueberry program. I placed the paper in an unsealed envelope and wrote “For: The Mailman” on the top. I put the envelope in the mailbox unsealed and put up the red flag. Once he  opened it, his smile lit up the dark side of the moon. I was overcome with happiness and wanted to cry.

For my third and final Blueberry Moment, I made little positive notes on index cards for random people in the school. I made one for Mrs. Kuzinski as well. All the cards were colored with sharpies. I had fun making them. My dad got a styrofoam cup and plastic lid from the hospital to make hot chocolate for Mrs. Kuzinski. Once I gave it to her, she smiled and warmed her hands with it. I was very happy to help and gave her a little thank you with my Blueberry Card.

First, I gave the ER nurses a bin full of candy because they were saving my Grandpa. When I dropped it off at Michelle’s house, she sounded very pleased. The ER nurses loved the sweets. I know ER nurses work really hard so I wanted to pay them back with some sweets. I know I was doing something good for them.

Second, I gave Mrs. Echols, a secretary at my school, a cake and a bracelet because she is always nice to me. Even if I wasn’t a Blueberry Ambassador, this is something I would have wanted to do for her, because she always cares for all of us at Central. Every time I walk through the door, she greets me with a smile and a hug. It was also her birthday so I wanted to give her something nice. I am so glad that I could make it all happen on her (our, we share birthdays) special day.

Finally, I plowed my neighbor’s driveway because they are always sweet and kind to me. When I handed the Blueberry Card to her, she had a smile on her face. I could totally tell that she was happy with what I did, and so was I. I saw that her car was covered in snow and it was a couple inches in her driveway so I wanted to make sure she was safe when she drove out again that day. I also shoveled and put salt down so that she didn’t slip when she went out the front door.

My first Blueberry Moment was helping my great-grandmother wrap her Christmas presents. She has arthritis in her hands and was having a lot of trouble doing things. When I heard about this, I called her and asked if she wanted my help wrapping Christmas presents. She seemed very shocked, surprised, and happy that I wanted to help her. As soon as I got to her house to wrap some presents, I realized she really needed my help. She had a pile of presents in the guest bedroom she still had to wrap. Once I was all done wrapping the presents, I felt very happy and glad that I had heard about my great grandma needing help and I actually doing something about it instead of just feeling sorry for her.

My second Blueberry Moment was helping my mom out in her classroom. Her students had destroyed the numbers put on their desks. It would have taken my mom a week to fix the name tags and shelve the new books that had just came in so I offered to help her by fixing the name tags. She seemed shocked that I wanted to help her. When we got home that day she looked in her planner and told me that I could come into her classroom on the 14th. As soon as I got into my mom’s classroom, I realized how destructive these middle schoolers really are! They had ripped the tags apart and destroyed most of them so I had to go around fixing all of the tags that the destructive middle schoolers had destroyed. When I finished, my mom told me that it would have taken her about a week to finish this by herself. It made me feel really glad and happy that I had helped my mom in her classroom and saved her a lot of time.

My third Blueberry Moment was making dog treats for a shelter. I heard about this when I wanted to help out at the Humane Society. I couldn’t volunteer with the animals because I was too young to do this. I would have had to get a tetanus shot and don’t like shots and I didn’t want to get a shot. When my mom was on the phone with them, she heard that they needed to have someone make dog biscuits and that no one wanted to. That’s where I came in. As soon as my mom told me that they needed someone to make dog biscuits I got super excited and asked my dad when we could make them. He told me that we could make them if we went to the store and bought the ingredients. When we made them we found out that they are really easy to make and that we would deliver them the next day. When we got there the people working there were really surprised that we had made them for the dogs at the shelter. I was really proud of myself for making dog biscuits for the dogs at the shelter.

My mom suggested that I read to an elderly women that recently suffered from a severe stroke. I started thinking about the book that I wanted to read to her. Then I thought why don’t I read my favorite book, The Velveteen Rabbit. Turns out it is one of Beth’s favorite books also. As I walked into the door, I saw a sudden smile on Beth’s face and while my mom told Beth who I was and what I was doing there I saw her smile grow and grow. My friend was there with me too. After I read her the story, we talked to Beth for about an hour. Then, her husband came to pick her up. Me and my friend told him what we were doing and who we were. Beth, her husband, my friend, and I talked before they left. I think she appreciates me doing this for her. I know I feel good about doing this.

I had heard that there was this cat, Yeow, that had been living at my mom’s work for over a year now. So, I decided to help out. I went to my mom’s work with her on a Saturday. When I was there I played with the cat, fed the her, gave her some fresh water, and cleaned out her litter box. I had fun playing with Yeow and I think she enjoyed the company.

I wanted to cheer someone up on one of our snow days.  My mom said there was a package of cookie mix down stairs and said I can make them for one of our neighbors. My mom noticed that our neighbor, Nancy, had just finished shoveling her driveway and my mom thought it would be a nice treat. So, I got out the cookie mix and the ingredients. I had my mom preheat the oven while I mixed all the ingredients. When the cookies were done we packed them up, I grabbed my Blueberry Card and I went outside to deliver the cookies. Nancy was delighted when I brought her the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. I certainly felt good about doing this, I would even like to bake cookies again for someone today.
