BLUEBERRY AMBASSADOR MOMENTS
Davison Hill Elementary, coordinator Becky Turkovics
I wrote a word of encouragement on sticky notes for my class. I wanted to do it because everyone was always arguing after recess. Everyone was so happy and grateful for the sticky note later in the day when everyone opened their desks, I saw that some people had taped their sticky note under their desktop. This made me happy and it made other people feel happy too because of what I did. I could have really made someone’s day!
I was up north with my grandma and grandpa and I helped my grandpa shovel snow. After that, I helped my great grandpa shovel also. I did that because I wanted them to be happy. They both offered me money but I just said, “No thanks.” The rest of the day I noticed that they were happier than usual and laughing a lot. This made me feel good that I did something good. Later that night I handed them a Blueberry Card.
I went to McDonald’s for breakfast. I decided to use my own money to pay for the people behind us. I did that because when we were crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, someone did that for us and it made my parents very happy. Sadly, I could not see their reaction but I feel like they were pretty happy. Doing my final act of kindness felt good, knowing that I did three positive acts of kindness. My dad then handed the cashier the Blueberry Card and told him to give that to the person behind us.
I went to Elga Credit Union on December 5, 2019 to Stuff A Blue Goose Police Car. I donated board games, a puzzle and a Disney Princess Doll for Christmas. I wanted to do this random act of kindness because it made me feel good. The lady was very happy to receive the gifts for the children. It made me feel great to give to children who needed toys for Christmas.

I fed the birds in my backyard on January 2, 2020. I did not want the birds to be hungry. The birds chirped at me when I was done. I wanted to do this random act of kindness because it made me feel happy to feed the birds.
I went to Tim Horton’s on January 4, 2020. I purchased a $10 gift Blueberry Card to give to a stranger. I waited for the next person to come in so I could give them the gift Blueberry Card. I wanted a stranger to have a free breakfast. I love Tim Horton’s so that is why I chose them. The lady was very happy and friendly to receive the gift Blueberry Card. I wanted to do this because it made me feel good and happy inside.
Blueberry Moment 8088
I spent time walking the neighbor’s dog around the subdivision. Our neighbors have a new puppy and her husband is ill. I thought that taking the dog for a walk would help her out so she would not have to leave her husband alone to exercise the dog. I also try to put her trash cans near her garage on garbage days. It made me feel happy and joyful on the inside and outside. It was nice to see her smile and say Thanks. This experience makes me want to help more people through seeing how happy my neighbor was.
Blueberry Moment 8086
I went to the North End Soup Kitchen to help out the day after Thanksgiving. I decided I wanted to help out in the community. I took some stuffed animals and gave them away to kids who wanted them. It made me feel happy on the inside to see the smile on the kid’s faces when they got a stuffed animal to play with.
Blueberry Moment 8087
I was at Tim Hortons to get some timbits for my family. We paid for the order of the person behind us in the drive thru line. I thought it would be a nice surprise for them and made me feel happy to help someone else.
Blueberry Moment 8083
After a big snow storm, I surprised my grandparents by shoveling their driveway. They were very happy and impressed that I took the initiative. I was proud of the good feeling it gave me.
Blueberry Moment 8084
I got a Meijer gift Blueberry Card for Christmas and couldn’t decide what I was going to spend it on. I had decided to save it for my next trip, but as we were checking out, I gave it to a Mom and daughter that were behind us in line. I thought it would brighten their day and I was right. She gave me a big hug and said thank you. I was proud and happy.
Blueberry Moment 8085
I baked chocolate chip cookies for my neighbors. They always bring us the best treats during Christmas and I wanted to do something nice in return. My grandma helped me find the recipe and spent the day helping me make over 50 cookies…probably more than that, but we ate some while working on it. I had a good day with my Grandma and everyone said that they appreciated the kind gesture.
I wanted to place a box on the front porch for all of the people delivering packages to my house. They work hard in the cold to deliver our packages.
We made cookies and took them to our neighbors.
I cleaned the entire kitchen during intersession while my mom was at work without being asked to.
I donated 10 inches of my hair. It made me feel good knowing I made someone smile. I watched videos of when kids get the wigs in the mail on YouTube. I am so happy I am able to do such a little thing and make someone happy.
I went around my neighborhood for money to sponsor a cage at the Humane Society. I wanted to do this because I want them to take in more animals so they can find a new home. I put in $50 and feel really happy for myself doing nice things.
I volunteered at the Humane Society and cleaned out the cages. I loved doing that because I like animals and like helping people. I feel like the animals liked their cages cleaned out.
For my first Blueberry Moment I found some of my children’s books that were in good shape and created a tiny library for my dentist office. When kids are waiting for their appointments, they can read the books and it will calm them down or help them not to be bored. I know that I love to read books at the dentist but over the years the number of books has become smaller and smaller and very worn out. I’m sure the other kid patients will like to read these new books.
For my second Blueberry Moment I wrote a letter to my mail carrier. She is so kind and delivers mail and packages to use no matter what the weather is like. Even if there are snow days, she still delivers the mail. I really appreciate her so I wrote her a note and thanked her for everything she does. I also included a Starbucks gift card to have something hot to drink on cold days.
For my third Blueberry Moment, I am delivering scarves that my grandma made. I even learned how to knit, kind of. I helped design the colors and patterns and she knitted scarves that I donated to Outreach East for people during the cold winter.
One day my neighbor, Sharon, fell on her driveway and shattered her elbow. I made her a get well card and I later found out that I was the only person that gave her a card. When I learned that, it made me feel really good and made me smile. It made me happy because I knew that I did it because I wanted to.
About 3 weeks later, I offered to play with my neighbor’s puppy Bella. This was with the same family. Sharon and her husband could not play with Bella and that made me feel bad for the dog. So, I ran with their dog and played with her. My siblings and I all did this and it was fun and it was helping our neighbors. I made all of us happy and grateful.
At the beginning of January my mom and dad volunteered to take snack for Bible class at our church. My mom had to stay at home because she was sick so my dad and I took them and set up the table. I had fun.
My first act of kindness was holding doors for people. I do it at church and school. I also do it at restaurants too.
My second act of kindness was giving items for the Giving Tree at church at Christmas. I bought things and donated them.
My third act of kindness was buying coffee for someone at Bigby coffee.
My first act of kindness was writing a thank you letter to my grandma showing gratitude for letting me and my family stay in her house while our house was getting built. I chose this act because I am so thankful that our grandma would let us stay with her even though we are a big handful.
My second act was buying all of the 4th grade popcorn for Popcorn Friday in my school. I chose this act because some parents don’t give their kids popcorn money sometimes and they don’t get any popcorn while the rest of the class gets popcorn. It makes me smile to see my classmates happy.
My last and final act of kindness was opening the door for a stranger. I did this act because their arms were full of stuff and I felt like being kind and helping open the door for them. I felt very happy when I opened the door for them. They smiled at me and even just a smile or a thank you makes me super happy. This year I did 3 random acts of kindness. I think you should always be kind to other people even i f you don’t get money or candy or something you want. A smile or a “thank you” is just what is needed back always. You should always be kind like a Blueberry!
Blueberry Moment 8089
For my first Blueberry Moment I made a card to my ministry teacher. It had Happy Valentine’s Day with jokes and a note about how thankful I was to have her as my Bible Study teacher. I also made a Hawkeyes bookmark. She loved it and posted pictures online!
Blueberry Moment 9077
For my second Blueberry Moment I made encouraging notes and put them on my classmate’s desks. They loved it! Some of the words and compliments were, “Choose kind,” or “Be yourself!” Everybody loved it and some still have the note on their desk to this day! It was so fun just seeing their faces smile.
Blueberry Moment 9073
For my third Blueberry Moment I made a card for my custodian. He just does so much for the school and I wanted to thank him. It told him how much I appreciated him and how I looked up to him. I also made a Patriots bookmark for him because I know he loves them and Tom Brady. He loved it! It feels great spreading kindness to other people.
Blueberry Moment 9298
For my first Blueberry Moment I encouraged all of my cheer teammates to write on a poster that I decorated telling them what they like best about our coaches. I thought it was important for the coaches to know that we value them. I brought the poster to practice and before practice started, I had all of them write on the poster. They both read it and thanked all of us for letting them know that we appreciated them. It made me feel glad that we let them know how important they are to us.
Blueberry Moment 9299
My second Blueberry Moment is that I gave my cheer teammates no bake cookies for Valentines Day. I did it because No Bake Cookies always made me feel good inside and I wanted them to feel the same. I brought them to practice and handed them out afterwards. They thanked me and were grateful that I made them cookies. It made me feel good to make something that I like so much, and give them to my teammates. I liked that they all liked them.
Blueberry Moment 9297
My final Blueberry Moment is that I gave a teammate, named Alissa, a painting that I made because she hurt herself and has not been able to cheer at practice or in competitions. I did it because you could tell she was disappointed that she could not cheer with us. She comes to the practices to watch but that is all she can do. I wanted to make her feel better, and let her know that we care about her. I brought it to practice to give to her, and she smiled and said thank you. You could tell she was thankful and it made her feel good. It made me feel good knowing that I was making her feel included and important even though she can only watch right now.
Blueberry Moment 9066
For my first Blueberry Moment I worked with my Lego robotics team to create Kindness Cards. Each kid and coach made a lot of Blueberry Cards, we wrote positive messages on them like, “You are Amazing” and “Keep up the good work.”. We all worked together to make the cards. When we were done the coaches collect them and we took them to our Robotics competition at Kettering University to hand them out. We handed them out to students on other teams, their coaches and families and the judges to spread kindness to others. How this helps the other people is by giving them this they know we have good sportsmanship and we root them on and support other teams too!
Blueberry Moment 9069
For my second Blueberry Moment I made scarves for Harts Closet. Harts Closet is a place that collects clothes, winter gear, and other things to help kids who are homeless or are in foster care. They have a drop off spot in Davison at church. How this helps is that I donating the scarfs to kids will help them stay warm.
Blueberry Moment 9070
For my third Blueberry Moment I choose to help the Girl Scout troop to sell cookies’ to people. When I got there, I was at a Kroger. Business was booming and I was the restocker. I danced to attract people. I think it worked. How I helped restock was when my sister or I noticed that something was gone, I added that cookie to its pile. I also helped my mom get the boxes of cookies from the car. Also, at the VG’s I helped put the empty boxes to the car. I loved helping them sell cookies so they could reach their goal of raising enough money to go to overnight camp. It was fun!
I went to Charter Senior Living and played games with the elderly people who live there. Me and my friend Ryan went to Charter Senior Living Center because his grandma lives there. He told me that the people who live there get lonesome sometimes. Some of them have no family to visit them so we thought it would be nice to go and spend time with them. We brought games to play. We played Spot-It, Left Center Right, and a game with poker chips. We stayed for about an hour and a half and just played games. I would tell they were so happy. This made me feel happy too.
I collected blankets and towels for an animal rescue center.
I know that at animal shelters they like to have soft, clean, warm blankets for the animals especially in the winter when it’s cold outside. I called and texted my friends, family, and neighbors asking for donations of old blankets or towels. I collected about 80 blankets and towels. I delivered them to The Devoted Barn in Holly, Michigan. When I carried them in all the volunteers were so happy. It had been very wet and cold so they said they go through more blankets than usual. This made me feel so happy to know the animals were warm and happy.
I volunteered at the Devoted Barn Animal Rescue. The Devoted Barn cares for all kinds of animals. They have ponies, horses, dogs, cats, pigs, goats, and llamas. A lot of the animals came from abusive situations. Some were left in the cold with no shelter, some had no food, and some were just not cared for. I brought carrots and the horses and goats loved them. After I played with the horse for a while we went and saw the dogs. There were so many, at least 100! They came from all over the world. Some came from Thailand! They were rescued from the meat trade. I was very sad to learn that the meat trade is where dogs are illegally sold for people to eat. There was even a dog from Saudi Arabia that had been badly abused and it was hissing at me because it was so scared. I played with the dogs and gave them treats and took a couple for a walk. It was cold and muddy but they loved to get out and get fresh air. This experience made me feel good and I also felt sad for the dogs that had to live their whole life in a cage without a family to love them. They probably don’t even know how it feels because they have only been abused and treated nicely.
I read to the kids at daycare for story time. I read “The Giving Tree,” one of my favorite stories. I enjoy reading to the kids.
I help the door many times for different people.
I helped the kids with art at daycare and helped clean up the mess.
I collected pop cans so I could buy hats, gloves, socks, and blankets for the homeless. I donated to The Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee counties.
I helped Nana fold towels when she asked me to bring them upstairs. She was so happy when she came out of her room and I was doing the towels for her.
I helped Nana shovel the driveway when she got tired because I was playing in the snow. When I noticed Nana was shoveling by herself, I decided to help her.
