BLUEBERRY AMBASSADOR MOMENTS
Grand Blanc East Middle School, coordinator Nicole Lafleur
For my first random act of kindness, I decided to start off small, by simply putting sticky notes all around the school with positive messages on them all week, just in time for the anti-bullying assembly. I put them Under chairs, on lockers, on desks, no matter where I put them, they were gone the next day, and unless the janitor made any complaints about sticky notes left everywhere, I’d take that as a good thing. I wrote things like “You’re Amazing.” “You’re Beautiful.” or even “Live like Dory and just keep swimming”. I knew this was effective after seeing a couple of students take the sticky note off their locker or from their chair and smile before keeping the note in their folder or hanging it on the inside of their locker. My favorite part about doing this is on Tuesday after opening up a Snapchat story and seeing a picture of one of my sticky notes that said “You’re amazing” captioned “My day has just been made.”
For my second act of kindness, my mom and I went to Taco Bell and went through the drive-thru and paid for the person behind us, then we went to do the same at Burger King.
For my third random act of kindness, I made two dozen spooncils for Mr. Wallace.
I was at a store and bought someone’s groceries. She was very surprised because she always does acts of kindness for others and I did one for her. I told her about the Blueberry Ambassadors and she went on to do another act of kindness.
I delivered blueberry muffins that I baked on Friday for my new neighbors across the street. They both said they will enjoy them and I hope they will.
For my final act of kindness, I hid inspirational painted rocks all around Grand Blanc including the library and L&L dance studio.
My first Blueberry Moment this year was for my sister over the summer. I decorated all of her everyday needs in washi tape with the first letter of her name on it. I also made her a sign that I hang from her fan that said her name on it just because I wanted to.
My second Blueberry Moment was for my mom. I made her dinner after she came home from a conference and it was all ready when she got home. I made this for her because I knew that she was tired and busy all weekend.
My grandpa is 89 years old. Sometimes my grandpa cannot move around and clean his house. Almost every Saturday at 10:00, I would go over to his house and clean his house and help him around the house. I would vacuum, dust, clean windows, and rake. I helped every Saturday.
I had a basketball game and we all came. One girl on my team couldn’t make it because her parents couldn’t make it. So, we took her and she was able to come and play for the team. We also dropped her off.
My great-grandpa is in the hospital with the flu. I made him a card. The card said get better with a picture. My mom is going to drop it off because I am not old enough to visit him so I don’t get him sick. I hope he feels better so I made him a card.

A girl’s things fell out of her locker and the bell was close to ringing and I helped her get all of her stuff off the floor while everyone stepped over her.
When I went to the grocery store, I saw one of those motorized carts outside getting wet so I drove it inside. The store manager thanked me for doing so. It felt good doing things for other people.
When I was on the bus, I saw a girl who had no one sitting with her. I sat by her instead of sitting with my friends. I don’t regret my choice, and because of that I have a new best friend. She was very happy when I sat by her, and I was too.
On my bus one day, we had a substitute driver. He didn’t know where to go to get to the other spots we needed to go to get people, and every day I know where we go. So, I told the substitute how to get to the rest of the bus stops no problem. He was very glad that someone (besides our real bus driver) knew how to get to the stops and go to the school on time.

I decided to go to my grandma’s nursing home and spend time with her and her friends. I typically visit her once a month for brunch and we get to talk about her Wii bowling status. All of the people there have such a great attitude although they do get lonely very often. I decided to just talk to her and her friends. It was actually really nice and I felt like I was helping to fill up some of the afternoon boredom that they usually experience. I gave my grandma a Blueberry Card to show to all of her friends and told them about the Blueberries.
Blueberry Moment 14523
I decided to accompany my mom on a walk. My mom did not get to walk my dog for very long. She really wanted to show me her path. My dog was also very excited because we ended up walking longer than they usually do.
Blueberry Moment 14524
My friends wanted to do a project for one of their classes where they would do a fundraiser to raise money so that they could buy supplies to donate to a homeless shelter. They weren’t really sure what to do. I came up with the idea that they could sell heart shaped suckers in the morning as a sort of candy gram. They really liked the idea and decided to do it.
During Halloween, my mom and I gave some of our old Halloween costumes to a children’s home so they could go trick or treating to.
On Christmas day, I gave my siblings presents that I bought with my own money. They looked so thrilled when they opened them.
For my last Blueberry Moment, I pulled up someone’s garbage cans on my street to their garage. I did this because we have a lot of people who are retired on our street.

My first Blueberry Moment happened at the place I where I go every Sunday, my temple, the Khalsa Sikh Center. Every time I’m there, there is always a nice lady that sits in the back corner. I simply went up to her and greeted her and saw an instant smile on her face and soon there was one on mine too! Now, whenever I see her, I go up to her and ask her how she is doing and also ask if she needs any help with something. I did basic things that she needed help with such as getting up and getting her things that were not in the same room as we were in. How I know I made her day is because she always is saying “thank you” and “I appreciate you” I simply respond with “no problem”.

For the second Blueberry Moment, I decided to do it at Kohl’s. We shopped around for a while and when it was time to check out, the line was huge! My mom said we could go somewhere else and play around. So, my sister and I sat in the room before the exit and we saw people leaving and coming in. No one really bothered to say anything. Here is when I started to greet people as they walked in with a simple “hello” and a “how are you” as I continued to do that, I noticed people appreciated the little things and started thinking if they would think about it later when it’s their turn to do something nice. Sooner or later I started to open to door for people that were walking in or leaving me and my sister sat at each bench across from each other and I opened the door for people leaving as she opened the door for people that were entering. I noticed more people started to thank us. As I walked out of Kohl’s that day, I wondered if any of the people did anything nice for someone else but, little did I know someone who I held the door for was holding the door for me and my family on the way out.

In our school, there can be many accidents mostly with the use of water bottles. Most water bottles that come in and out of the school get spilled and broken pretty easily and just helping someone clean up the mess behind can help out a lot. So, that is just what I did. There were many kids that I helped out over the school year any of my friends but most people I don’t really know but, helping out that person helped me create a better friendship with them just by putting a smile on their face. There is evidence in this world that just by helping someone with their needs, can help create a friendship and by helping people when it’s the time to.
My first Blueberry Moment was at Rite Aid when me and mom were in line. The lady in front of us had here child in her cart and all of a sudden her cart fell and all of her stuff along with her daughter fell out of the cart. I helped get her stuff in her cart as she picked up her daughter.
My second Blueberry Moment was at school and many other places. Whenever I go somewhere, I always say the same words to the person that did something to help me like, when I am going through the lunch line I say thank you, have a nice day. It starts when I am buying something to as simple as the bus driver driving me home.
My last Blueberry Moment was at Urban Air. I was getting refills on drinks and the person in front of me spilled her drink so I helped her get napkins from the counter and clean up the spill on the floor.
Over winter break, my neighbor broke her wrist and had to have surgery. It was really hard for her to do a lot of stuff that’s normally easy. I helped her go grocery shopping and wrap presents for Christmas.
My friends and I decorated a Christmas tree at Abby Park. It makes the elderly people who live there very happy. After Christmas, we helped take all the decorations off the trees.
There was a new girl at our school who was very shy. I invited her to sit with us at lunch. She turned out to be very nice and funny. At first, I was a little nervous to make a new friend, but I’m glad I did.

My first Blueberry Moment was visiting my past teachers at Indian Hill Elementary. I have moved on to middle school and wanted to see them and thank them for all they have done for me. I really wanted to see them again. After school, we went over to Indian Hill and visited all my past teachers. My kindergarten teacher was so happy, I loved seeing her!
Blueberry Moment 14473
My second Blueberry Moment was giving a homeless man outside some hand warmers and some food. My mom works in Detroit, and outside her work there is a homeless man that is always there. I really wanted to help him, so when my mom went to work, she gave him some hand warmers and some food to help him. Whenever we see him when we go to Detroit, we give him some food and talk to him.
Blueberry Moment 14472
My third Blueberry Moment was writing a letter to my Language Arts teacher. She is so inspirational. She is so creative and she does so much for our class. She even spent money on flexible seating to help us learn. She not only teaches Language Arts, she teaches us to be creative and to think outside the box.
Blueberry Moment 14573
For my first Blueberry Moment, I gave the police officer at my school a cupcake and a card thanking him for keeping me and my whole school safe. Doing this made me feel like I can make other people’s whole day change with just doing little acts of kindness.
Blueberry Moment 14578
For my second Blueberry Moment, I put an inspirational note in a library book for the next person to check it out. This made me feel good that someone else might find the note and smile. Also, I thought that maybe If the person who found the note might do the same and leave a note for someone else.
Blueberry Moment 14574
For my third Blueberry Moment, I left my teacher a letter about what they do for the class. My heart felt good that I could make the teachers feel appreciated. I hope that others can see what the teachers do for us to. Leaving the card made me feel great. It was nice to help someone else.
Blueberry Moment 14598
My first Blueberry Moment was at school when we were in gym class playing a game. I noticed a boy in my grade was playing basketball by himself so me and my friends invited him to come over and play with us which he appreciated.
Blueberry Moment 14597
My second Blueberry Moment was at Walgreens. Me and my dad went up to pay and I noticed a set of car keys on the counter. I wondered if they were the woman’s who was next to us but she did not take them when she left so I thought they could have been the man behind the register. After we paid, we walked outside and a woman could not get into to her car and was calling someone to tell them she was locked out. I immediately went over and told her that her keys were inside on the counter. She said thank you and went to get her keys.
Blueberry Moment 14599
My third and final Blueberry Moment was also at school. I was walking to class when a girl got bumped and dropped all of her things. I only had a few minutes left to get to class but I stopped and helped pick up the girl’s things in the busy hallway so she would not be late to class or feel embarrassed.
For my first Blueberry Moment, I shoveled a neighbor’s driveway who isn’t able to clear it herself. It was snowy out and her driveway was covered in snow. While I was shoveling, she came out and she looked happy. I gave her the Blueberry Card and she thanked me for helping her. It felt good to help out a neighbor.
For my second Blueberry Moment, I donated to the red panda habitat at the Potter Park Zoo. They were selling paintings made by red pandas for International Red Panda Day, and the money that they got from selling the paintings went towards the red panda’s habitat at the zoo. Red pandas are my favorite animal and I knew that I wanted to help them in any way I could. I bought the painting and I was happy all the way home knowing that I helped to get the red pandas a better habitat.
For my third Blueberry Moment, I put pennies by the horse ride at Meijer. Whenever I go to the grocery store, there is always a kid that wants to ride Sandy the horse. Sometimes, though, they can’t because their parents might not have a penny to put into the ride. I decided to put pennies there so that if a kid wants to ride the horse, they can because there are pennies by it. Now, if anyone wants to ride it, they can.
Blueberry Moment 14509
My family and I went to Birch Run Mall. My cousin and I decided to use our Blueberry Cards and do a random act of kindness. At first, we were looking around to see how we could help. But we realized that opening the door for people could make someone’s day! So, we held the door open and it felt nice because we got a lot of “thank you’s” and “how thoughtful” back. I gave my Blueberry Card to a nice man who walked by.
Blueberry Moment 14507
A nice girl named Clara, dropped her stuff right before the bell was about to ring. And I was going to get a drink of water but decided to help her by picking up her stuff. And I’m glad I did because she thanked me a gave a huge smile.
Blueberry Moment 14508For my last Blueberry Moment, I wanted it to be special. So, I was walking inside my church and a handicapped lady was following me. I knew she also wanted to go in so I stuck back and waited for her so I could hold open the door. She thanked me for my time and said that “There should be more people like you on earth”. Not only did her face have a huge smile, my smile could have spread to the moon and back! What I realized was that the more time you spend on a person, the more happier you are.
After school, everyone got off the bus and one of my neighbors was on their way home. He had not realized that his backpack was open so all the loose papers and his notebooks started falling out and blowing away. I ran over and started picking up everything that I could grab out of the snow. I jogged over to my neighbor and gave him all of the supplies that had fallen out of his bag. He said thank you and smiled, I could tell that I had made him feel better because he had looked kind of sad.
Over the weekend, I went over to my Aunt’s neighbor’s house and I wanted to help her neighbor by shoveling her driveway. I went to her door and asked if she wanted me to shovel her driveway and she said of course. So, I got out my shovel and I started shoveling. It made me feel happy that I could help her because I got to make her smile and make things easier for her. When I was done, I went and said goodbye and she said I had made her day.
I bought a few copies of my favorite book, A Wrinkle in Time and I thought it would be fun to hide them inside places around Grand Blanc. I took my bag of books and started to secretly hide them. I was super excited for someone to read my book and then share it with someone else so that they could be happy. I hope that the people that eventually got the book enjoyed it.
One of my Blueberry Moments was when my friend didn’t have lunch so I bought her something at the snack stand so she would at least have something to eat.
My brother’s hamster escaped out of his hamster ball and my cat got him but I saved the hamsters life by taking him from my cat Paws.
My friend left her phone on the bus and I made sure that the bus driver wouldn’t drive away and I brought the phone out to my friend and got back on the bus.
