There was a 104-year-old veteran who wanted Valentine cards for his birthday. My grandma found something online about it and I knew it was something I’d like to do. The reason why I sent him a card was because he served our country and he helped us have the freedom I do today. I didn’t see the reaction on his face, but I hope he enjoys it and is excited to get it. I hope it is a great birthday present. It’s the least I can do for veteran and I thanked him with a card. It made me feel nice on the inside to give him a card, but I should feel like that because that’s what Blueberries do.

This winter I gave some of my money to my neighbor who does a fundraiser each year. This fundraiser goes towards chemo bags for people that have cancer. In this bag are items like juice, crackers, drinks, socks and items to keep them busy. The reason I did this is because chemo can be very painful. I want the patients to have as much comfort as they need. The person who gets my bag will be thankful and happy for my donation. It impacted me by helping people who are sick and seeing what they go through.

This winter I went to the Veterans National cemetery in Holly, Michigan. With my friends and family, we put wreaths on soldiers graves. The reason I chose to do this is because of the hardworking men and women that fought for our freedom. That’s how I thank them for my freedom. I think people like the wreaths because I am showing respect for the veterans and I decorated loved one’s graves for our freedom. These people risked a lot so I will repay it with wreaths.

We were just about to leave the bowling alley and I noticed that there was somebody walking behind me and they were carrying a bowling ball. So when I got to the door, I held the door for them and when they walk through they smiled and said thank you then they walk away.

We were going through the drive thru at McDonalds and we decided to pay for the order behind us and after we did they flashed their lights and my mom said that that meant thank you and then they drove away.

I wrote have a great day on a piece of paper and drew a picture on it then I rolled it up and put it in my next-door neighbor’s door knob and went back to my house hoping that they would fine it when they woke up.

My mom, my brother and I were waiting at the check-out line at Walmart and we were up next. There was a handicapped woman in front of us and had a lot of groceries and she was struggling getting all on the conveyor belt, so I helped her. I helped her get all of her groceries from apples to bathroom necessities, bread and a lot of other things. After I got all the groceries on the conveyor belt, I helped her load all her groceries into her cart. She had a huge smile on her face and was thanking me and saying how grateful she was all the way out of Walmart. Just a small thing can make a difference.

I was at my great grandma’s house on a really cold day in December shoveling her driveway. It was so cold and really snowy out. I got most of the driveway done when my grandpa came out and said time for dinner. I said I’m not coming in until I finish the driveway. Ten minutes later, I was done with the driveway and snuck up to the deck and started shoveling it. Now the wind and snow was really blowing and I was freezing but kept working. I finally was done and walked inside. As soon as I got in, I told my great grandma to look outside and she was so thankful and had a huge smile on her face and gave me a kiss. Sometimes doing something small can be something big for someone else.

One day in the fall, my neighbors and I decided to have a football game and I was chosen to be referee so I walked to our swings et and sat on the swing. I glanced over to find my elderly neighbor raking leaves so I quit the game to go help her she said she really appreciated it. When we were done, she thanked me again and I walked home feeling pleased and proud of myself and it was cool that I didn’t even mind helping with the leaves but she really appreciates my help and I think now that if everybody just helped someone out a little it could make a big difference in our community or even our world! These moments that I type are the reason being a Blueberry is so important to me.

I was on vacation in the fall while we were at a busy restaurant and a couple of older ladies were holding open the door for each other it looked like they needed some help so I rushed over to help them I stood there holding open the door while some more people flooded in. Almost every single person that went through the door while I was holding it smiled and said thank you. It is amazing how something so small such as holding open a door for a couple of people can impact you, the person being helped, and this community this is why being a Blueberry is so important to me.

One day, us Blueberries went to VG’s to ring the bell and carol! We get there set everything up and then start to carol people walk in donating money and smiling so big! I’m glad we did because that day we gave a lot of people a better day and a big smile!

We were at the grocery store and my mom left her purse in the cart. An employee walked up to us and said here you forgot this in the cart. My mom and I we’re grateful that he said something. We wanted to give him something to show our appreciation. So, we gave him some money. We felt good and we are so lucky. We were very grateful that he said something to us before we left and forgot it.

When I was at Starbucks in line, I wanted to make myself feel good but doing a good thing for someone. No one was in front of me and no one was behind me, but I knew I could do something for the next person that comes to the Starbucks line. I asked my mom if I could give five dollars to the cashier for the next people behind me. When I was walking out of the store, it made me feel really good about myself. I know it was just a feeling, but I felt like I did that for a reason and a good reason. For the rest of the day, I felt really good about myself and that I did something really good for someone else.

My mom was watching the news and saw that a family with three kids lost their parents. Me and my mom felt bad and we knew we wanted to do something to help them. They had their older brother to take care of them the other two kids we’re still going to school. I couldn’t imagine if I lost both of my parents. My mom and I decided to send them money and a letter. I told them how I couldn’t imagine losing both my parents and how bad I felt for them. When we were sending the letter, it made me feel really good about myself that I did something that could help them.

A family friend has started a meal train and GoFundMe page for her friend’s husband that has cancer. I got their kids favorite snacks together and delivered them. I hope it makes them smile and helps them forget about being sad for a little bit.

I’m making cards to give out to random people in VG’s parking lot. I hope to brighten their day with a little kindness.

For my first Blueberry Moment, I made no-bake cookies and delivered some to my neighbor, for babysitting me and my brother. When I delivered them, her dad greeted me at the door because she wasn’t there. Her dad was super thankful, he was saying “thank you” and how happy he was that I brought cookies for her.

For‌ ‌one‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌Blueberry‌ ‌projects,‌ I ‌finger‌ ‌knitted‌ ‌some‌ ‌scarves‌ ‌for‌ ‌family‌ ‌friends.‌ I ‌got‌ ‌the‌ ‌idea‌ ‌from‌ ‌a‌ ‌ski‌ ‌trip.‌ ‌We‌ ‌were‌ ‌at‌ ‌Crystal‌ ‌Mountain‌ ‌and‌ I ‌brought‌ ‌the‌ ‌scarf‌ ‌that‌ I ‌made.‌ ‌We‌ ‌were‌ ‌staying‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌family‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌mom,‌ ‌Jean,‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌daughter,‌ ‌Lauren,‌ ‌were‌ ‌admiring‌ ‌my‌ ‌scarf‌ ‌and‌ ‌Jean‌ ‌was‌ ‌complaining‌ ‌about‌ ‌how‌ ‌she‌ ‌was‌ ‌always‌ ‌cold.‌ ‌So‌ I ‌took‌ ‌the‌ ‌opportunity‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌something‌ ‌kind.‌ I ‌decided‌ ‌to‌ ‌make‌ ‌Lauren‌ ‌and‌ ‌Jean‌ ‌scarves.‌ I ‌was‌ ‌going‌ ‌to‌ ‌keep‌ ‌it‌ ‌a‌ ‌surprise.‌ ‌First‌, I ‌asked‌ ‌them‌ ‌what‌ ‌their‌ ‌favorite‌ ‌colors‌ ‌were.‌ ‌Then‌ ‌when‌ ‌we‌ ‌got‌ ‌home‌, I ‌got‌ ‌to‌ ‌work.‌ ‌The‌ ‌next‌ ‌day‌ ‌we‌ ‌went‌ ‌to‌ ‌Michael’s‌ ‌and‌ ‌bought‌ ‌the‌ ‌yarn.‌ ‌We‌ ‌got‌ ‌Jean‌ ‌mint‌ ‌green‌ ‌and‌ ‌Lauren‌ ‌coral.‌ ‌When‌ ‌we‌ ‌got‌ ‌home,‌ I ‌got‌ ‌cracking.‌ I ‌made‌ ‌both‌ ‌scarves‌ ‌within‌ ‌five‌ ‌days‌ ‌and‌ ‌all‌ I ‌had‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌was‌ ‌wait‌ ‌to‌ ‌give‌ ‌it‌ ‌to‌ ‌them.‌ I ‌waited‌ ‌to‌ ‌deliver‌ ‌it‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌month.‌ ‌When‌ ‌the‌ ‌time‌ ‌came,‌ I ‌brought‌ ‌the‌ ‌scarves‌ ‌up‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌next‌ ‌ski‌ ‌trip.‌ ‌They‌ ‌were‌ ‌so‌ ‌happy‌ ‌to‌ ‌have‌ ‌a‌ ‌way‌ ‌to‌ ‌stay‌ ‌warm.‌ ‌It‌ ‌makes‌ ‌me‌ ‌happy‌ ‌when‌ ‌it‌ ‌is‌ ‌cold‌ ‌outside‌ ‌and‌ I ‌think‌ ‌of‌ ‌Jean‌ ‌and‌ ‌Lauren‌ ‌wearing‌ ‌their‌ ‌scarves.‌ ‌Doing‌ ‌kind‌ ‌things‌ ‌for‌ ‌other‌ ‌people‌ ‌always‌ ‌makes‌ ‌my‌ ‌day.‌ ‌

For‌ ‌one‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌Blueberry‌ ‌projects‌ I ‌helped‌ ‌my‌ ‌grandparents‌ ‌decorate‌ ‌their‌ house‌ ‌for‌ ‌Christmas.‌ I ‌got‌ ‌the‌ ‌idea‌ ‌from‌ ‌them‌ ‌always‌ ‌complaining‌ ‌that‌ ‌they‌ ‌can’t‌ ‌do‌ ‌many‌ ‌things‌ ‌anymore‌ ‌because‌ ‌of‌ ‌their‌ ‌age.‌ ‌So‌ I ‌took‌ ‌the‌ ‌opportunity‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌something‌ ‌kind.‌ ‌On‌ ‌a‌ ‌Saturday,‌ ‌my‌ ‌sister‌ ‌and‌ I ‌went‌ ‌to‌ ‌help.‌ ‌We‌ ‌hung‌ ‌the‌ ‌ornaments‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌tree‌ ‌and‌ ‌set‌ ‌the‌ ‌tinsel.‌ ‌We‌ ‌also‌ ‌set‌ ‌up‌ ‌the‌ ‌tiny,‌ ‌porcelain‌ ‌village.‌ ‌It‌ ‌has‌ ‌a‌ ‌bunch‌ ‌of‌ ‌people‌ ‌that‌ ‌have‌ ‌great‌ ‌detail‌ ‌and‌ ‌set‌ ‌up‌ ‌the‌ ‌ice‌ ‌rink‌ ‌made‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌mirror.‌ ‌We‌ ‌put‌ ‌up‌ ‌the‌ ‌stockings‌ ‌and‌ ‌arranged‌ ‌them‌ ‌by‌ ‌family.‌ ‌After‌ I ‌completed‌ ‌that‌ ‌task,‌ ‌they‌ ‌were‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌Christmas‌ ‌spirit.‌ ‌It‌ ‌makes‌ ‌me‌ ‌happy‌ ‌when‌ I ‌see‌ ‌the‌ ‌house‌ ‌decorated‌ ‌for‌ ‌Christmas‌ ‌because‌ ‌it‌ ‌makes‌ ‌me‌ ‌think‌ ‌of‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌happy‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌joy‌ ‌spreading‌ ‌around‌ ‌the‌ ‌world.‌ ‌One‌ ‌act‌ ‌of‌ ‌kindness‌ ‌can‌ ‌go‌ ‌a‌ ‌long‌ ‌way.‌ ‌

For‌ ‌one‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌Blueberry‌ ‌projects,‌ I ‌back‌ ‌massaged‌ ‌my‌ ‌neighbor.‌ I ‌got‌ ‌the‌ ‌idea‌ ‌from‌ ‌Julie‌ ‌being‌ ‌very‌ ‌uptight‌ ‌and‌ ‌tense‌ ‌but‌ ‌won’t‌ ‌go‌ ‌and‌ ‌get‌ ‌a‌ ‌real‌ ‌massage.‌ ‌So‌ I ‌took‌ ‌the‌ ‌opportunity‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌something‌ ‌kind.‌ ‌First,‌ I ‌rub‌ ‌out‌ ‌the‌ ‌knots‌ ‌with‌ ‌my‌ ‌small‌ ‌fingers.‌ ‌Then,‌ I ‌karate‌ ‌chop‌ ‌her‌ ‌back.‌ I ‌chop‌ ‌light,‌ ‌but‌ ‌just‌ ‌enough‌ ‌power‌ ‌to‌ ‌make‌ ‌her‌ ‌relax.‌ I ‌tried‌ ‌to‌ ‌use‌ ‌my‌ ‌elbows‌ ‌to‌ ‌take‌ ‌out‌ ‌the‌ ‌big‌ ‌knots‌ ‌but‌ ‌some‌ ‌people‌ ‌don’t‌ ‌like‌ ‌that.‌ ‌After‌ ‌one‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌massages,‌ ‌she‌ ‌feels‌ ‌really‌ ‌relaxed.‌ ‌It‌ ‌makes‌ ‌me‌ ‌happy‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌that‌ ‌kind‌ ‌thing‌ ‌because‌ ‌afterwards‌ I ‌feel‌ ‌like‌ I ‌made‌ ‌someone’s‌ ‌day,‌ ‌just‌ ‌from‌ ‌a‌ ‌simple‌ ‌back‌ ‌massage.‌ ‌

It all started when I was at my friend’s birthday party. We were riding in the car on the way back from a pottery place. Me and my friends were playing a game in the car about where we had to make people wave back to us out the window. We were at a stop light so I figured I would wave so I waved to a lady and she waved back with a great big smile on her face. She held the smile for about one minute then the stop light went green.

There is a kid in my class, and she does not have the brightest days. So that gave me the idea, I will make a bracelet and a card to make her smile and it did so. She looked a lot calmer than before and the rest of the day she was happy!

I thought it would be cool to give my bus driver lunch. So the items were a honey bun, Gatorade, pretzels and popcorn. She does a lot and being a bus driver won’t really get much praise. So, I thought it would be nice to do that for her and she had a big smile.

This Blueberry Moment is about my neighbor Barbra Nelson. Her husband died so I had an idea what if I spent the night and then after I made a series of cards the week of her husband’s death. We try to help her every chance we get!

For my first Blueberry Moment, I decided to send Brinley a card. Instead of joining us at Torrey Hill she is battling through cancer. I didn’t write that it was from me because Brinley doesn’t know me the best and she would be confused if she saw my name.

Blueberry Moment 8048
My second Blueberry Moment was making a soldier a card. We did the same thing at our Blueberry meeting but instead I drew a picture. I only used blue and red because those are America’s colors on the flag.

I gave a homeless girl 1,000 pennies because my Gigi wants to have a good life and wants to help other people.

That I opened a door for a handicap person because the person was trying to open the door. So, I asked my Gigi can I please help her open the door. My Gigi said yes you can.

I picked up somebody’s garbage can because they weren’t home to take it to their garage. When they came home, I told them that I took your garbage cans to your garage.

My grandma was stuck at her house. I went over to her house to shovel the driveway. I did it because earlier someone held the door for me.

One way I was helping was I helped my brother write his name. I went over to help him. I did it because it felt good.

I held the door open. I did this because it felt good. It didn’t just make me happy but also the other people.
