I chose to write a letter of appreciation to a school figure. An under-recognized but important figure is the lunch person, who I decided to write to. When I walked down the hallway to give it to her, I felt really happy about what I was doing. It’s nice to let someone know you appreciate them.

When I went sledding at Elms Park, I noticed there was garbage thrown about. I decided that as one of my Blueberry Moments, I would pick up the trash. After the snow melted, myself and a few family members began to pick up garbage at the park. It was nice to know that when it gets warmer, kids will have a clean space to play.

I was driving into school and I saw Mrs. Reid shoveling the snow. I said to my mom, “I want to get out and shovel for her.” So when we parked, I ran to her and I said, “Hey Mrs. Reid. Can I shovel for you?” “Well of course,” she said and then she handed me the shovel and I finished the rest. Then the next day I gave her the Blueberry Card.

I was going over to my friend, Joey’s house, and we were going to make cards for breast cancer patients going through chemotherapy treatment. So when we got there, Joey and I talked for ten minutes and then we got called to the table and got to work. We wrote, “You rock,” “You’re amazing,” “Smile, laugh, love,” and “You’re awesome.” Then, we gave them to my friend Ashton’s mom and gave her the cards to put in gift bags for the woman. Then, I gave her my Blueberry Card.

It was a half day at school, so my mom and I got out early. The previous day we made cupcakes. So, we took Mrs. Sorter’s kids home and then ate lunch and then when to Gaines Township Hall and we walked in. When a nice guy greeted us, we told him about the Blueberry Ambassadors. We talked about what we’re doing and how we were helping. We left feeling great. Overall, the experience was great. It made me feel like I did something amazing.

My first Blueberry Moment was when my mom and I were making cookies for school and we had a bunch of extra cookies. So, I decided to give all the extra cookies to my neighbors. After I gave those cookies to my neighbors, they were so happy. I also have some younger neighbors and after I gave the cookies to them, they were super excited. Making someone that happy, made me super happy too.

My second Blueberry Moment was when I was home one day and I noticed my sister’s room was a little messy. So, I decided to clean it up for her since she wasn’t home. But when she got home, she was so thankful and after I did that, I realized it was super easy to be nice and it felt really good.

My last Blueberry Moment was when my sisters and I decided to surprise y dad for his birthday because my mom wasn’t home for his birthday. He was so happy and excited. I loved seeing him so happy and I felt super good about it.

I wanted to thank the police officers for all they do for the community. I went and got cookies and a thank you card. I sat with Officer Christine Latz and Officer Blaine Adkins and talked with them and it made me feel closer to the community.

Blueberry Moment 9249
My friend, Mason and I wrote cards to women who are fighting breast cancer. Our cards carried inspirational words to put a smile on their faces during a hard time. It made me feel good about myself to make cards for the women fighting breast cancer and to make someone’s day better.

My dad and I went to the food bank to help pack boxes and sort food. Working there was so fun and I like helping the Flint community.

My first Blueberry Moment was I baked some awesome chocolate chip cookies. The next day, I gave them to my grandma’s living facility. I bet they were so overjoyed with happiness and had something to look forward to. I wish them joy and that the cookies brightened their day. I always like to do nice things for other people. I can’t wait to do my next Blueberry Moment.

Blueberry Moment 9221
My second Blueberry Moment was when I made breakfast for my dad, including toast, pancakes, and even coffee. My dad is a hardworking teacher, so when I make him breakfast, I put love and effort into what I do. I know that my dad appreciates it.

Blueberry Moment 9223
For my final Blueberry Moment, my mom and I went to Tim Horton’s. I handed the cashier my Blueberry Card and asked her to hand it to the person in the drive-thru and let them know that their meal was paid for. It made me feel happy and I hope that made their day.

One of my friends and I were asked by Mrs. Pyla to help out with kids in her class. Emma and I read with kids and helped them write. We also hung something in the hall for Mrs. Pyle. We did this for a few days one week. I had a great time helping the younger kids at my school.

Blueberry Moment 9225
My brother and I are both Blueberry Ambassadors. We made a dinner for our grandparents. We did because we love them very much. My brother made the dinner and I made the dessert. They were so happy and really enjoyed what we did.

In January, I sent letters to family and friends about my baby item drive. I also put a note in the bulletin at my church and even sent fliers home at school. I wanted to do a baby item drive because I wanted to help people out. Some of the other Blueberries and I went to the soup kitchen. I saw a lot of mothers and babies that needed help. So, that’s when I decided to do a baby item drive. I collected hundred of baby items. On February 10th, my mom, brother, and I went to Saint Michael’s soup kitchen. Ladies were so thankful for what I did.

For my Blueberry Moment, I noticed a couple of flags in the school that were ripped. I was thinking of cub scouts – we had to fold and put up flags – and I decided to try to order the school new flags. I didn’t think it was right to have a lot of ripped flags inside and outside of the school. It made me feel good to do it, even though I missed my own reading time. Ms. Corbat, my principal, felt good about it and was surprised that I even noticed the flags.

For this Blueberry Moment, I helped clean up during the Masonic Temple breakfast. I

took dirty dishes from the people having breakfast and took them to the kitchen to be washed. At the end of breakfast, I gave my Blueberry Card to one of the Masons and I felt good because I was helping a lot of people and it made it easier for the Masons. I think the Masons felt good that we came to help clean up because they didn’t have to work as much

Blueberry Moment 9229
We collected toys, clothes, books, and other household items and took them to Goodwill. It was a big store for people who don’t have a lot of money. We drove to the back entrance where we were allowed to donate toys and went in. Then we gave them the toys along with my Blueberry Card and explained to the person how the Blueberry Project worked. I felt a little sad to see some of my toys go, but it made me happy that someone else was going to be able to play with them. I think the kids who get them will feel good.

As one of my Blueberry Moments, I baked cupcakes and delivered them to people that were stuck in their house on a snow day. One of the people I delivered them to was one of my neighbors. When I delivered them the cupcakes, they were very thankful that I did this. I’m very glad I made someone’s day and made them smile.

Blueberry Moment 9230
Another Blueberry Moment that I did was write a note to the lunch ladies about how thankful I am for them to wake up everyday early in the morning just to serve the kids that either don’t have the time or cant eat at home. I also thanked them for serving us our lunch in the afternoon. When I gave them the note, they had a HUGE smile on their face and were very thankful. Im so happy I made someone’s day.

Blueberry Moment 9231
My last Blueberry Moment was making dinner for my grandparents because my grandpa had surgery. When we got to their house, I set up the food and plates. When we all sat down to eat, they all said it was delicious! They were all very thankful. I also made some brownies for dessert. Even though my task is done, I will still do kind things for people.

Every year during the holidays, Ms. Bearden, a former 5th grade teacher at our school runs a hospitality cart for our teachers. The cart is always full of goodies and snacks for our teachers. Ms. Bearden has moved to the middle school, so I decided that I would keep her tradition going. I asked four other Blueberry Ambassadors to help me bring in treats. They also helped me take the hospitality cart around to the teachers in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, we served donut holes, muffins, bread, mocha cappuccinos, and water. In the afternoon, we served the teachers chips, cookies, pop, and water. The teachers loved it and even tweeted about it!

Blueberry Moment 9234
While I was at the soup kitchen, my mom and I asked if they were in need of anything. Angie, the coordinator for the Center of Hope Soup Kitchen, said that they were in need of granola bars, hot cocoa, and tea. These were items that could easily be taken home with those who visited the center. I sent home a flyer to all Morrish students asking them to bring in those items. I was able to collect a lot of items. Angie was very thankful.

Blueberry Moment 9235
For my last Blueberry Moment, I asked a 1st grade teacher at Morrish if she needed help in her classroom. She said that she needed help with either reading with some of her students or helping with their work in class. She also had another Blueberry Ambassador and I hang up the projects in the hallway that they had been working on.

My first Blueberry Moment I did was watch a YouTube video on how to make a scarf

and then decided to make two scarves. I initially thought about giving the scarves to my family members but then I thought that my family did not really need any scarves. Then, I decided who did. I thought that some people at Carriage Town could use them. I told my mom that I wanted to give the scarves I made to Carriage Town and she thought it was a great idea. There was only one problem. How would I get the scarves there? My mom told me there is a Carriage Town bin at our church. I was really excited for people to have the new scarves and I ended up putting them in the bin.

Blueberry Moment 9237
My second Blueberry Moment was when I made brownies and brought them to church. I brought the brownies in because a lot of people work really hard upstairs to do a base camp lead team. This one was really hard to come up with. I was really happy I did this because many people said my “secret brownies” were really good. My mom has helped me with coming up with ideas and plans. This was one of my favorites because I used my gift to help others.

Blueberry Moment 9238
My third and final Blueberry Moment was when I made a blanket for my pastor that had just had a baby and was moving to Kansas. This idea was a little hard to come up with because it was my last moment. So, my mom and I went to JoAnn’s and got some fabric to make the blanket. I then gave her the blanket at her farewell party. I hope her baby will like the blanket.
